Fiji Beekeepers Association is assisting Fiji’s beekeepers improve their honeybee genetic stock and increase honey production by providing quality queen bees at a subsidized price from reliable queen breeders.
Normally, queens are priced at $50 each or more. They are being made available to beekeepers at $20, with FBA paying the breeder the remaining $30.
5 or more queen bees per household will be supplied. This program is made possible by funding from the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR) and PIFON.
To order your queens, contact the FBA project coordinator, Riyaz Dean, by Facebook Messenger or text to 996-8795. If you previously ordered queens and did not receive them, confirm your order with Riyaz Dean.
Queen quantities are limited.
The queens are currently being bred by Nilesh Kumar, Imraz Ali, Herald Ram, Sekove Qoro, Ravnil on Viti Levu, and Saimone Tunaqase, M. Shamir and Wilfred Naicker on Vanua Levu, but orders for price-subsidized queens must be made through Dr. Riyaz Dean.
Breeders will have biosecurity clearance to have the bees moved to your area.
Those who have ordered previously and have not received their queens yet are requested to send a reminder note.
Apologies for the delays as we were waiting for imported queens which has been received after 3 months of quarantine thanks to MOA and ACIAR for making this possible.
