Fiji Beekeepers Association is assisting Fiji’s beekeepers improve their honeybee genetic stock and increase honey production by providing quality queen bees at a subsidized price from reliable queen breeders.
Normally, queens are priced at $50 each or more. They are being made available to beekeepers at F$20, with FBA paying the breeder the remaining $30.
Up to 5 queen bees per household will be supplied. This program is made possible by funding from the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research (ACIAR).
To order your queens, contact the FBA project coordinator, Riyaz Dean, by Facebook Messenger or SMS text to 996-8795.
If you previously ordered queens and did not receive them, confirm your order with Riyaz Dean.
Queen quantities are limited.
The queens are currently being bred by Nilesh Kumar and Imraz Ali on Viti Levu, and Saimone Tunaqase and Chuck McCay on Vanua Levu, but orders for price-subsidized queens must be made through Dr. Riyaz Dean.
Breeders will have biosecurity clearance to have the bees moved to your area.
This program will end with queen shipments in February 2022, so order early.
Orders are NOT received on the FBA FB page.
